North County

Palomar Software is located in Oceanside, a coastal city at the northwestern corner of San Diego County. (It is one of many organizations here named after Palomar Mountain).

The northern half of the county (centering along State Route 78) is referred to a “North County,” and includes the area from Del Mar to Oceanside on the coast, and east to Escondido and beyond.

There are many beaches and other water sports opportunities within Oceanside. For those who prefer other types of recreation, within an hour’s drive of Oceanside are a number of scenic outdoor recreation areas for hiking, skiing and other activities.

The Cleveland National Forest includes area around both Palomar Mountain and San Juan Capistrano. It is part of the National Forest Service and its Pacific Southwest region.
